A Bit About me
I love to do arts and crafts or projects that require model displays. I enjoy making and creating my ideas into reality. I remember most of the projects I created for class presentations, and how my teachers always asked if they could keep them for future reference in class as they were very detailed for a student. I was also involved in classes and after-school activities that motivated me toward the STEM field, specifically Mechanical Engineering my freshman year at Dominican University.

After taking mostly lecture courses for my engineering degree, I quickly realized there was a disconnect between the information I retained. I felt there was a lack of physical interaction and visual explanations. I reflected on my past experience with graphic design and the current work I was doing at the time and decided to research careers that combined my passion for inventing and designing physical projects. This search led me to discover Industrial Design as my Ikigai - a Japanese concept referring to something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. Unfortunately, Dominican did not offer a degree in Industrial Design, but I had a background in Web Graphic Design, so I chose to finish my bachelor's degree in Graphic Design in hopes to transition into Industrial Design. My Graphic Design experience has led me to work with multiple non-profit organizations that help Latinx and African American students with career development in hopes of one day closing the gap of unemployment in minority groups. These organizations have inspired me to advocate for my Latinx community and stand up for women in the STEAM field.

I am currently looking to get into a Master's Degree program in Industrial Design and find ways to provide resources to everyone wanting to learn more about careers in the STEAM field that may not be well known.
